The owners of this unique three-story home loved their new house but couldn’t seem to get any sleep. To create a more restful bedroom and all-around more peaceful home, they invoked the principles of feng shui.
The homeowners wanted their bedroom to be a private and restful space, but the bed’s position next to the door created too much energy flow for sleeping. In addition, they didn’t have a headboard, which is needed to establish a grounded, stable feeling, according to the principles of feng shui.
In the room’s new layout, the bed has been moved to the opposite wall to get it out of the direct energy flow. The wall has been extended to fit a new headboard, and two bookshelves have been added to help anchor and balance the room. Also for the sake of balance, opposite walls of the have been painted two modern yet soothing colors, an earth tone and a metal tone. In addition, curtains now separate the bedroom from the bathroom, creating a sense of privacy.
Touches of romance have been added in the love area of the room: a relaxing chaise longue, pink flowers, warm lighting and romantic imagery. And the couple painted a unique piece of artwork depicting two flowers. Objects in pairs are an important element to use in bedroom design, according to feng shui.
