If you want to save hundreds on living room upgrades, learn the basics of sewing and upholstery. RMSer Carlosrafael made this ottoman and throw pillow for his apartment, one-of-a-kind style statements.
Don't be afraid to mix things up to create a chic, eclectic space on a budget. The owner of this city condo shopped smart and used paint to create a feature wall. The checkerboard pattern is accentuated with gold-leaf accents that are easier and more inexpensive than they look. Design by jaginator, Rate My Space.
Eclectic and Elegant
RMSer merskine didn't tell Rate My Space users much about this space, but the combination of color, texture and pattern says a lot. Repainted white wicker side chairs sit gracefully in front of black-and-white art pieces which cover a wall, an eclectic statement that works.
Thrift Store Finds
RMSer retromod was at the right thrift store at the right time when he scored this $25 panoramic photograph of Baltimore. Much of the rest of his decor is thrift as well.
When studiodellago bought this cabin, it was furnished. But that didn't stop this RMSer from starting over and giving old furniture new life. Even the furry accessory is a rescue.
Fab Finds Found Online
Green velvet sofa. Need I say more? RMSer averybojangles found this beauty on Craigslist for $250. The $50 coffee table was a WWII trunk.
Surf Shack in Manhattan
After carissaleigh moved from Hawaii to Manhattan, she decided to keep the old leather couch and art instead of investing in entirely new pieces. This combination has created a relaxed, beach shack vibe.
N1kk1 found that paint details are a great way to reinvigorate a space. The milk chocolate border outlined in metallic silver positions the couch perfectly in the room—and the silver sun piece gives a great sparkle.
Creativity and Paint
Musicalpauper painted over old paneling to create a leather patch work effect.
