Traditional TablescapeGet creative with traditional colors. Designer Monica Pedersen designs an inexpensive piece of wall art perfect for the holidays. To recreate, wrap a piece of MDF in brown butcher paper and secure it to a wall. Draw straight lines across the paper with a yard stick, and use small individual squares of hook-and-loop tape to attach red and green ball ornaments in straight lines across the MDF. For the table, a red and green plaid tablecloth creates a cozy atmosphere, while a centerpiece of glass vases filled with ornaments completes the look.
Glamorous Gold TableGo bold gold with your table decorations. To achieve designer Sparkle Josh's glamorous display, create an eye-catching foundation with a shimmering table covering and a gold-patterned, tasseled tablecloth. For the place settings, top checkered placemats with gold chargers and gold-rimmed plates. The incredible centerpiece is a cornucopia designed out of horns with glittering foliage and white pearlescent leaves. Reflective silver reindeer bookends provide focus to the table setting, and pillar candles on reflective bases help open the space up visually.
Nature's Own TableStart at the top for your holiday table. For designer Genevieve Gorder's natural table display, she instantly infuses a drab chandelier with Christmas cheer by inserting an ornate arrangement of branches, twigs, birds and ornaments. For the centerpiece, put a row of real sod in a line down the center of the table, using red polka dotted ribbon to cover up the dirt by affixing with white pins. Bright red flowers at regular intervals down the line of grass give the table a touch of springtime even in the dead of winter. Since the ceiling is so busy, calm things down by covering the table and chairs in white fabric and setting the table with plain white china and napkins. Put a little pile of fake leaves and bird's eggs on top of each napkin for a touch of nature.
Vibrant, Contemporary TableCreate a clean, modern tablescape this season. Designer John Gidding starts his contemporary table with a clean, white linen cloth. Layer your plates for a unique place setting, such as a green translucent glass plate with a fuchsia ribbon placed vertically on top and covered by a second plate. Add a splash of style with a white napkin covered by a chic beaded decoration and colorful martini glasses. A row of glass containers filled with orchid blossoms and moss-covered rocks is the perfect festive centerpiece.
Colorful, Shiny TableNow is the time to go all out with color and shine. To create Lauren Lake's elegant tablescape, chose a sheer gold fabric for your table covering and a light, metallic mesh to run along the center. A dramatic candelabrum with short, thick candles on two adjacent mirrors is surrounded by glittery pinecones, branches and berries. Simple white china, satin napkins and glittering napkin rings complete the look.
