Add the warmth and splendor of autumn to your dining table with the addition of an everyday lamp, grapevine, leaves and other natural elements.
Ever wonder why fine dining restaurants often have small lamps on the tables? Because lamplight is warmer and more flattering than overhead light sources, and surrounding a table with a small pool of light creates a sense of intimate space. You can achieve this same effect at home by creating a unique fall centerpiece which uses an everyday lamp as its focal point.
Materials and Tools:
electrical or duct tape
14" grapevine wreath
fall leaves (silk or organic)
hawthorn berries (silk or organic)
small gourds (silk or organic)
pussywillow (silk or organic)
1. Position runner on table. Center lamp on runner, hide lamp's electrical cord under runner. Secure the cord to the tabletop with electrical or duct tape. Plug lamp into wall outlet, using a drop cord if necessary.
2. Now comes the fun part, dressing the table. To add seasonal flair, place a 14-inch grapevine wreath around the lamp's base. Into wreath, insert hawthorn berries, pussywillow and an assortment of fiery-colored leaves.
3. To complete the look, use miniature grapevine wreathes as napkin rings, pile a few small gourds around your centerpiece and scatter leaves about the table.
