Rose Parade 2010: Sneak Peek

Every float in the Rose Parade starts out on paper. Watch the Rose Parade live on Jan. 1 and see if you can spot the real thing.

  • On the Bayer Advanced float, thousands of real roses form three-foot "roses" in a stylized rendition of the Rose Bowl Stadium, paying homage to the 96-year history of the Rose Bowl. The float also serves as the debut of 'Easy Does It', judged the best rose of 2010 by All-America Rose Selections.
  • Donate Life’s seventh Rose Parade entry features the mythical phoenix, a symbol of life emerging from the ashes of death. The bird soars high above 24 float riders – all transplant recipients and family members of deceased donors – seated along a Wall of Names inspired by the National Donor Memorial in Richmond, Va. The phoenix's tail feathers are adorned with dozens of floragraphs — portraits created with floral materials — that depict organ donors. A garden of dedicated roses pays tribute to donors across the country.
  • Mountaintop Majesty, Rain Bird's 2010 entry, depicts a family of mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. The float draws attention to the need for the preservation of endangered species and the habitats in which they live.
  • Based on traditional drum major and band major figures, Farmers Insurance’s float presents an enormous "Parade Major" with a glimmering brass bugle. © 2010 Scripps Networks, L.L.C. All rights reserved
