Expert Cindy Atchley remodels an outdated master bathroom with modern and stylish features to convert the space into a tranquil spa retreat.
Two years ago, Suzanne and Ben Karl moved into their five-bedroom, three-bath home in Scottsdale, Ariz. They've remodeled the entire house, except for the master bathroom, which is their final project. The couple wants a spa-like, state-of-the art master bathroom that ties in with their bedroom.
The couple decides to use the expertise of Cindy Atchley, who opens up the space by adding height, depth and angles. She enlarges the bathroom entry and installs a concrete and corrugated front bathtub that fills from the ceiling. The new shower has a pebble stone floor and concrete bench, while glass block windows and an exterior door bring in the outdoors.

The couple has remodeled their home in an urban chic look, but the master bathroom is still cramped and outdated with boring white tiles and brass fixtures. While they like having plenty of sink area, they'd like to combine the two separate ones into a long trough.
The new concrete countertop has a custom trough sink, which is big enough for the couple to share. Cherry cabinetry in a chocolate stain is highlighted by stainless steel hardware. In addition, they've added a flat-screen TV and expanded the water closet to include a urinal for Ben.
