Tone Down the Colors

The Designed to Sell team changes overly crimson walls and a circus-themed kitchen into a neutrally-colored, buyer-friendly home.

Before: Circus Colors

Real estate expert Shirley Mattam-Male said this kitchen has too much color and too little counter space. Homebuyers look for practicality in a kitchen, not circus colors. Another problem is the holes in the vinyl floor, the homeowners keep them covered up with a big rug.

Mattam-Male loved the structure and architectural detail in the master bedroom (not shown). But like the dining room and kitchen, her problem was with the wall color. In this room, the situation is even worse because the red paint was applied on top of wallpaper and now the wallpaper is peeling off the walls.
