Before: Shag-Tastic DisasterKeri and Bob Rupp found the perfect contemporary home for their hip lifestyle, but the outdated master bedroom and bathroom were anything but cool. These newlyweds needed help turning their tiny shower into a spacious sanctuary, bringing in bold colors to match their personalities and getting rid of the huge hot tub next to the bed. After: Cool CorkCarter came up with a new look using a soft cork floor, a roomy modern shower and plenty of storage cabinets. Cork flooring is a sustainable product harvested from just the bark of cork trees, leaving the tree itself undamaged. About one-third of the trunk is stripped every nine years, and the tree then regenerates new bark. It is a great alternative to carpet and is much softer than standard hardwood flooring. It's also easy to install with tongue-and-grove locking, just like simple laminate flooring.
