Ugly DeckBrian Ho and Thuy Le are first time homeowners, who are happy to be out of their former apartment. Now they have a large yard with a lot of potential, but it currently has no atmosphere or style. They're especially ready to get rid of the raised deck covered in Astroturf.
Beautiful LandscapeLandscape designer Kevin Stephens creates open, functional spaces for the couple to relax and entertain in. Concrete pavers border a pea gravel pathway that houses a redwood table and benches. The space serves as an entertainment center and outdoor living room. A fountain is created out of a big beautiful glazed clay pot and the metal screen behind it makes the fountain really pop. Bamboo plants and colorful pots create a border defining the pathway.
Empty BackyardThe couple's plain, boring backyard is in desperate need of a makeover. They love living the urban life, but need a space where they can chill, as well as entertain their family and friends.
Outdoor Living RoomTo make the yard modern, they use clean lines, materials that don't blend together and simple elements. The aging wood fence gets a heavy metal makeover with corrugated metal and wood trim. A new lawn and some cool looking plants surrounded by redwood mulch complete the look.
