Brilliant Bonus Room

Decorative paper, masonite, acrylic, sheer fabric, mirror and stencil come together in this whimsical design to create a brilliant bonus room for entertaining.

  • The homeowner finds that her bonus room has turned into a glorified home office/storage space.
  • The room is now pulled together with a sophisticated color palette and repeating elements.
  • Azhar simply sandwiches a piece of decorative paper between two sheets of acrylic and frames it. He then integrates lighting between the two sheets of framed paper.
  • To define the office area and separate it visually from the stairway, designer Brice Cooper creates a playful, hanging room divider.
  • Design coordinator Kelly Edwards dresses up a standard curtain panel with sheer cutouts.
  • Cooper found a matching set of two end tables and a coffee table to use in the room, and Edwards has a simple way to bring a little more style to the clear glass tabletops.
  • To make the circles look more organic, Cooper freehand paints on some lines to create a stem that connects the orbs to the lower section of the wall color. © 2010 Scripps Networks, L.L.C. All rights reserved
