Lighten Up the Living Room for Spring

Hosts Matt Fox and Shari Hiller have some great projects to replace the dark and heavy colors and textures of winter with the light and bright colors of spring.

  • Out with the dark and heavy, in with the light.
  • Fresh spring colors and patterns spread around the room, along with simple natural touches like wheatgrass, orchids and a rock fountain, make this space ready for the warmer months ahead.
  • This is a terrific and easy project to lighten up any dark bookcase.
  • Pre-cut carpet tiles can be laid so the texture alternates, quickly adding interest and dimension to the floor.
  • Introduce pops of spring color like citron to dark upholstered pieces by sewing soft neck roll pillows.
  • Brighten up your room with a decorative throw pillow.
  • April showers bring May flowers. Add water like this softly babbling fountain, flowers and plant features for light, bright and inviting spaces.
  • This floral display will last several weeks. Add a cap of bleach once per week to keep water clear and change water when possible.
  • What could be an easier way to customize a room than with a large monogram covered in spring green moss?
  • The lively green color of wheatgrass immediately grabs your attention.
