Moroccan-Style Lounge

Want a totally new room but don't have a lot of cash? Host Karen McAloon and the Design Remix team show how to create a Moroccan-style lounge/guest room using items already on hand.

  • White walls, no furnishings and a blah linoleum floor make this space uninteresting and uninviting.
  • McAloon combines found items with some inexpensive painting tricks.
  • The sleeping area of the basement is crowded with stored furnishings.
  • Getting rid of non-functioning furnishings and stored items clears this space for style.
  • A piece of rusted fencing salvaged from the neighbor's yard is mounted to the wall and adorned with inexpensive votive holders.
  • McAloon uses fabric remnants to create these swags that are draped from corner to corner across the ceiling.
  • Without changing the actual architecture of the space, paint expert Danielle Hirsch uses paint to create faux arches and accent molding. © 2010 Scripps Networks, L.L.C. All rights reserved
