Before and After: Modern Family Room Redesign

Host Kenneth Brown creates a spectacular, multipurpose living area for a brand-new home.

  • It took a lot of work, but by starting the design process early, during construction, Kenneth was able make this space function as a dining room, living room and pool table area.
  • The large fireplace wall features a Venetian plaster finish, beautiful onyx inserts and original artwork.
  • The low-lined sofas allow for open seating without creating a box environment around the living area.
  • Two sculptural armchairs upholstered in cork round out the seating area.
  • Since this cutting-edge house is being built from the ground up, they decided to also custom-build the pool table.
  • The large dining table seats 10 comfortably, but its large size is downplayed by the beautiful glass top.
  • The dining and pool tables are tied together by identical chandeliers hanging above each table. © 2010 Scripps Networks, L.L.C. All rights reserved
