Colorific Living Room

Host Joan Steffend and interior designer Lesley Beha give a bland living room a colorful punch.

  • With the help of host Joan Steffend, carpenter Jeff Meyer and less than $500, designer Lesley Beha sets out to give this once-bland living room a punch of color and style.
  • The soft purple works perfectly with the vibrant sofa and contrasts nicely with the white shelves and white chairs.
  • To expand the homeowner's TV cabinet, Jeff builds shelves to sit right on top of the cabinet, making it look like one large entertainment center.
  • A new area rug matches the sofa and pulls all the colors from this room and the adjacent dining room together.
  • To hide the homeowner's weights, an ottoman with a hidden cubby doubles as an end table, with the addition of a wooden top.
  • A retro, wall mirror is created using telescoping mechanic's mirrors.
  • Sample swatches of anaglyphic (raised surface) wallpaper are used to create interesting artwork for above the TV.
