An awkward floor plan complete with posts and cinder blocks is resituated into an elegant living room.
Removing worn, stained carpeting reveals the concrete floor. Usually considered a modern element, the concrete is stained a warm tone to complement the antique furniture. Using a stencil made out of a sheet of acetate, paint contractor Danielle Hirsch adds a decorative touch to the perimeter of the floor. When applying the paint, she just brushes the paint haphazardly across the stencil, allowing parts of the floor to show through the paint. This creates a worn, antique look to the paint treatment.
