Trash to Treasure: Old Maps

Sasha Andreev shows Joan Steffend how to make decorations for the home out of old maps.

An educational and functional rug is made by attaching a large map to a piece of linoleum. The map is adhered to the linoleum using spray adhesive. A little duct tape enforces the edges underneath. Several coats of polyurethane are applied to the top to protect the surface.

Map Window Shade

A no-construction window treatment is made when a roll-down school map is mounted in front of a window. For two windows, cut the map in half and attach each piece to a shade roller.

Map Shadow Box

A shadow box was constructed from an old frame and fence pieces. To give it a worldly touch, maps were decoupaged onto the back wall.
