See a master bathroom in Vermont that has spectacular vistas.
As a longtime resident of the pristine mountain community of Stowe, Vt., designer Milford Cushman is no stranger to a room with a view. Recently, a local resident commissioned Cushman to give his master bathroom a contemporary update, and most importantly, to incorporate sweeping mountain scenery into the design.
To bring the outdoors in, a series of awning-style windows was installed. The windows offer ample natural light and jaw-dropping views of the surrounding countryside. One of the best things about these windows is their functionality. They can remain open through nearly any kind of a storm or weather event, without water coming in.
Underneath the windows is the room's centerpiece, the freestanding white bathtub. The homeowner wanted to be able to lounge in front of the windows and enjoy the view.
The breathtaking scenery from the window is also visible in the shower. The enclosed, frameless-glass, spa-style shower is swathed in the same gray tile that covers the floors.
To bridge the gap between the homeowner's contemporary style and the room's stunning natural surroundings, some elegant, earthy stone flooring was laid down.
The sculptural metal vanity was custom-made to fit the space The natural material has a unique patina that works perfectly with the cool, concrete countertop.
