Designer Steven Miller recently took on a job for his toughest client — himself. He decided it was time to make over his basement bathroom and turn it into something bright, funky and easy-to-clean.
Miller turned the space into a wet room. It is completely tiled from floor to ceiling, making it very easily maintained, easy to use and easy to clean. The totally waterproof environment also helps curb the buildup of mold and mildew.
The all-tile floors may look cold, but radiant heating underneath the surface keeps them nice and warm. The floor is slightly angled, sloping toward a French drain that helps keep the space dry. The cool, illuminated cubes add a dash of drama and a little extra surface area. The square boxes go with the square tiles, and the homeowner can change the color of the light bulbs to set different moods.
A round mirror and two sconces hang above the classic-style pedestal sink. Their circular shape does a great job of breaking up the monotony of the square tiles.
