Weekend HideawayLinda Stasi and husband Sid Davidoff have the ultimate weekend getaway. When they first discovered their beautiful beachfront home on Long Island's south shore, the old kitchen was stuck in the 1980s. They say it was cramped, gloomy and looked like something out of Miami Vice. The homeowners updated and reconfigured the kitchen and made it everything they ever dreamed of. Now they have the perfect place to enjoy good food, good times, good friends and the labors of good fishing.
Long IslandThe family's favorite gathering spot is around the large center island. The expansive island has a lot of open space, an induction cooktop and a secondary sink, making it the perfect place to prepare a meal. The cabinets underneath the island provide of plenty of extra storage.
Double FridgeThe giant 48-inch refrigerator is actually two 24-inch refrigerators sitting together. One side is a full refrigerator, and the other side is a combination refrigerator and freezer.
White GraniteWhen it came to the new countertops, the homeowners had to search far and wide for just the right material. They wanted white granite, though many people told them there was no such thing. They eventually found some in Iran, and the homeowners love its look and durability.
Tiled BarThe tiled bar is a recycled piece of New York City history. When the homeowners found out one of their favorite restaurants was being demolished, they asked if they could have the tile from a large wall mural. The homeowners brought home more than 350 tiles and painstakingly put the pieces of the mural back together.
Arts and CraftsThe dining table has a long history of its own. It is made from 300-year-old barn board. The homeowners brightened up the massive beauty with some very colorful chairs.
