Homeowner Paul Robinson has a beautiful beachside retreat on Georgia's Tybee Island. To help him design his new home, he called on his son, Eric, who has his own architectural practice on the other side of the country, in San Francisco. No room in the Robinson's new home is more elegant and more modern in appearance than the stunning master bathroom.
The key to the space is the ample windows. Not only do they provide a healthy dose of natural light, but they also offer breathtaking views of the island.
Shimmering glass tile was used in the shower and around the bathtub. The warm Georgia sunshine bounces off the effervescent tile, changing the color and hue in the room throughout the day.
Instead of using small run-of-the-mill bathroom faucets, the sinks are equipped with taller, multipurpose kitchen faucets. Father and son opted to use a combination of slab limestone and subway tile on the countertops and floors. The mix-and-match materials give the space a warmth that is sometimes lacking in modern design.
The opulent, oversize tub is the favorite spot of the lady of the house. The relaxing whirlpool has a beautiful view of the beach beyond the window.
