Fenced InJeff and Julianne Kravitz love to entertain outdoors, grill and play in the pool with their three kids. However, the backyard is outdated and divided into different areas so they can't enjoy it at all together. The couple is eager to have a backyard that is uniform and fits the active lifestyle of the whole family.
The Kravitz's backyard is outdated and divided into different levels, which creates an unsafe play area. They're looking for a designer who can redo the backyard so it's modern, safe and allows the family to spend time together.
Open PatioAfter looking over the three design plans, the homeowners chose to use the expertise of Bobby Brown. He levels the space by using stamped concrete throughout the backyard for the hardscape. The ivy is removed for three waterfalls that flow into the pool for a dramatic focal point, and to keep the pool safe and clean, they add a remote-controlled pool cover. Plus, the kids have a fun new waterslide built over the shed that houses the pool equipment.
Uneven GroundThe Kravizs' emphasis on family fun is reflected throughout their home; however, the backyard's layout needs a lot of work before they can bring the fun outside. The couple would like to remove the wooden deck off the master bedroom, as well as redo the cabana area. They're ready to get help from a professional who can create the beautiful and open backyard they've been yearning for.
Level Playing FieldBrown removes the wood deck so the Kravitzes can step out of their master bedroom onto the lawn. Low-maintenance plantings are durable enough to survive the kids and add bursts of color around the room. The outdoor shower is upgraded to a full bathroom and sits right next to a relaxing spa. The old cabana is completely redone, providing the perfect spot for some leisurely waterfall watching.
