Traditional Elegant Living Room

The Double Take teams re-creates a $33,000 traditional living room for less than $2,500.

  • Designed by Anne Symon, this room is all about warmth and understated elegance. Her inspiration was French formal, but she incorporated Asian elements to tone down the formality and give the room age and interest.
  • The experts are impressed. The Double Take team did a fantastic job capturing the Eurasian charm of the designer room.
  • The designer room features two antique Asian screen panels that are valued at over $2,000. For the makeover room, Halili goes to an Asian antique warehouse and finds wood carvings that were taken from a traditional Chinese wedding bed.
  • The coffee table in the designer room is a one-of-a-kind piece that features an antique game board with a map of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. It's worth more than $3,000. The team replicates it for just $41.
  • The windows in the inspiration room are adorned with custom-made silk draperies valued at nearly $5,000. Michelle creates the Double Take versions for just $420.
  • A set of Chinese Chippendale side tables, valued at $2,000, flanks the love seat in the designer room.
  • The $6,000 velvet chairs in the inspiration room are down-stuffed with a sophisticated nail-head detail around the cushions. The Double Take team found this set at a furniture store for $300 each.
