Potato BeddingThe set includes a comforter, two standard shams, two Euro shams and some accent pillows. The only thing the bedding is missing is the little red circles that give the room the fun punch of color. To get the red detail on the bedding, cut potatoes are used to stamp red circles around the gray bulls-eye.
At the end of the bed in the inspiration room is a hand-tufted, silk covered bench valued at $2,700. The team is able to replicate the bench for only $219. Halili found a bench the right shape and size, but a new seat was needed. To create the seat, holes are drilled through a piece of medium-density fiber board (MDF) to accommodate the tufted upholstery buttons. A layer of foam and a layer of batting are then adhered to the board. Michelle loosely wraps the fabric around the foam and batting. For the tufting, she holds a button on the bottom of the board that is bigger then the hole. She then pulls the thread tightly back and forth through the foam, from bottom button to the decorative top button. The process is repeated until each set of buttons is secure.
