BeforeHost Joan Steffend and designer Cy Winship turn a minimalist loft into springtime in Paris.
The black-and-white French poodle wall art creates a focal point over the sofa. The one-of-a-kind works were created by laying large poodle-shaped stencils on top of blank canvases and then spray painting graffiti over the stencil.

Plexiglas Cube Tables
A Plexiglas cube is converted into a pop-art end table with a spring theme. Flowers are arranged on a square mirror and then a pair of vintage white go-go boots stuffed with pink and black fabric are placed in the middle of the flowers. The transparent cube is placed over the top. For the masculine version, the boots and flowers get switched out with chrome wheels.

Calla Lilies and Throw Pillows
A shell-shaped serving tray is given a gold-leaf treatment and then black calla lilies are dramatically laid in the tray for a glamorous effect. Colored raffia is sewn, woven or ripped to create colorful covers for throw pillows. A pink plastic raincoat is used to make a sassy floor cushion.
A room divider is made using medium-density fiber board (MDF). A jigsaw is used to cut out a large fleur de lis shape. The large fretwork is then painted black and hung between the living room and the bedroom.
Mirrored Table and TV Cover
The high-tech table is created by building a box out of plywood and then adhering mirrored tiles to the box with epoxy. Chrome legs are then screwed onto the base. To create a cover for the wall-hung TV, a plywood box gets covered with vintage 1970s wallpaper.
Old costume jewelry is glued onto a tree branch to make some spring bling artwork for the credenza.

Dining Table and Window Shades
New window shades are crafted from boat fiberglass. A black lace box-shaped tablecloth with peek-a-boo zippers is reminiscent of saucy French lingerie. Sheer, white organza slipcovers go over the dining chairs to complete the sexy couture look.

Table Runner and CenterpieceA centerpiece for the kitchen island is created by covering a stainless-steel bowl with faux flower blossoms, then setting it on a coordinating stand.
EntrywaySix circular bath mats in three colors are stitched together to make one large geometric rug. Some dainty seating is created by covering a mirror with white fake fur, then a circular bench is covered with the same fake fur. The mirror is hung over the bench to give the illusion of a classic style chair.

Wall ArtThe look can easily be altered by changing the color or pattern of the bottom layer. Modern vases are created with custom-cut acrylic shapes fit together around a glass cylinder.
To give the bedroom a distinctive French flair, Winship rasterizes (a process whereby a photo is enlarged, then broken down into tiny little dots) a poster of a famous French actress to hang over the bed.

To soften up the look of the minimalist bedroom, a headboard cozy is slipped right over the existing headboard. Black lace pillow shams go over bright-pink pillowcases for a peek-a-boo effect.
Table and Chairs
Winship got his inspiration for a semi-faux painted accent table from a Parisian hotel. The tabletop is a wooden half-round fastened to the wall, and the base of the table and two of the three vases are painted on the wall. Two side chairs have been upholstered with monogrammed terrycloth to provide a fun, personalized look.
