Trash to Treasure: Headboards and Footboards

Robb Whittlef shows Joan Steffend some creative ideas for using old headboards and footboards.

  • To make this blanket display the legs were cut off of an old footboard. Two brackets were attached to each side and then two wooden dowels are hung in between each bracket. To finish it off, the whole piece is painted warm red.
  • These architectural art sconces were constructed from three fragments of a headboard. Each slice of the headboard is the same width, but the scale and height vary.
  • One of the leftover fragments from the candleholder sconce project was flipped upside down to make this unique table clock. The fragment was painted gray, a stand was secured to the back, and then the clock hardware was added. © 2010 Scripps Networks, L.L.C. All rights reserved
