Old West Saloon Basement

A bland basement gets an old-fashioned saloon makeover.

Ranchers Iris and Barry Yost have worked hard to make their custom-built Vegas ranch a Western haven for them, but are at a loss as to what to do with their basement rec room. They'd like a designer to create an old-fashioned saloon where they can entertain friends and neighbors, house various knick-knacks and put up the occasional overnight guest, all for a budget of $35,000.

After seeing all the saloon designs for their basement, the Yosts decide on Cindy Payne's practical but fun plans. Payne makes sure to include all of the homeowners' ideas like the Murphy bed and bar but also adds some of her own touches. An old piano will be used to store the TV when not in use, "Wanted" posters of their friends and family will hang on the walls, and a mural will incorporate the couple's own horses. With the addition of a saddle chair, poker areas and a slot machine, Payne transforms a boring basement into a splashy Las Vegas saloon.
