European Grotto Backyard

Michael Luckerman would like to surprise his wife, Katie, with a backyard makeover. He calls upon host Susie Coelho, designer Brian Toffoli and the Outer Spaces crew to turn this boring backyard into a relaxing European grotto.

  • Before: The Luckermans have a new baby and a new business so they need a place to relax. Their backyard has great potential but is currently cluttered and dominated by a grand fountain.
  • After: The fountain sections are repurposed into a smaller tiered water feature and the pediments are used as side tables. Painted wooden columns staked into the ground and cemented into pots add Old World charm, height and definition to the patio area. furniture (all from the Elise line): single chaise lounge 1007-9, coffee table 1031-f-Elise, square end table 1031-e-Elise, triple club 1007-23, single club 1007-21) (Caluco Quality Patio Furniture) wooden columns (Lowe's)
  • Before: This is clearly not a place to entertain friends or a baby! While the homeowners love the peeling fountain, cleaning and fixing it has been on their to-do list for years so it deserves some attention.
  • After: The unattractive chain-link fence and shed are stylishly disguised with wood paneling and decorative nails, while all the new furniture offers lots of comfortable seating. furniture (all from the Elise line): single chaise lounge 1007-9, coffee table 1031-f-Elise, square end table 1031-e-Elise, triple club 1007-23, single club 1007-21) (Caluco Quality Patio Furniture) wooden columns (Lowe's)
