Dynamic Dining Room Makeover

A dining room is transformed into an inviting space to entertain family and friends.

Chad Jones and Rebecca McNeely relocated from Philadelphia to Louisiana to be closer to family, who could help out with the kids. They quickly settled into a newly built home with their two young children in Mandeville, an up and coming New Orleans suburb.

Chad and Becky love their home and have tried to incorporate both their varied styles throughout the house, but they are stuck on the dining room. The dining room, coupled with the adjoining foyer and butler's pantry, is a great space that has a lot of potential. Chad and Becky want the space to make a statement. The couple hopes one of three designers can transform the area into an inviting space to entertain family and friends.

The homeowners decide to use the expertise of Curtis Herring and Daren Rice, who want to incorporate a French Provincial design with a few modern touches. The designers open up the room by moving the table to the center, adding bench seating and a buffet for storage. The cabinets were refinished in a warm chocolate brown color with emerald granite countertops. The foyer is transformed with Rattan chairs and a decorative rug. Finally, Curtis and Daren feel that the room suits their personalities.
