Art Loft Makeover

An artist's loft becomes a showcase for his creativity.


Host Joan Steffend and designer Cy Winship turn an artist’s bare loft into a professional artwork showcase.

The walls were given a soft water wash treatment with yellow and blue toned paint.

Asian inspired shoji screens served as room dividers, which gave the space clean lines and definition.

Indoor/outdoor carpet was a practical choice for this artist’s area rugs. The rugs’ durable material will make cleaning up spills a breeze.

Wood grain colored contact paper was used to create a fun driftwood accent on the cabinets.

An old stool, particleboard and mirror tiles were used to construct a stylish, yet functional coffee table.

Colorful pressed tiles were added to recycled drawer units to construct a creative storage console.

A unique rope light was created for the living room, while wicker planters were used to create the perfect lighting solution for the kitchen.

Vintage fabric pillows gave the seating area a unique style. A wire grid was constructed to provide an imaginative way to display artwork. Burlap blinds and mini-blind frames were used to create a natural looking window treatment. A wicker curtain, candles and a Papasan chair gave the space a showroom look.
