Pocket Greeting Card

Susie Cannon Moore creates greeting cards with a pocket that holds a photo collage.

Project by Susie Cannon Moore from Arlington, Texas.

Susie will make a greeting card with a pocket that will hold a collage of photos.

Materials and Tools:

various 8-1/2" x 11" card stock
8-1/2" x 11" patterned paper
brad/button for flap
embroidery floss
ink pad
stamps for sentiment
Microsoft Picture It or other photo-editing software

1. To make card base, use half a sheet of 8-1/2" x 11" card stock folded in half. Your card will be 4-1/4" x 5-1/2".

2. Cover front of card with patterned paper of your choice.

3. Use a die-cut machine to make pocket and flap. You can easily freehand the pocket and flap if you do not have a die-cut machine.

4. Trim the pocket and flap to the right size for the card. Apply ink around the bottom of the flap for definition. Adhere the flap to the pocket top.

5. Stitch around the pocket by hand or machine.

6. Stamp the sentiment.

7. Attach a button or brad to pocket flap.

8. Mat pocket on card stock and adhere on three sides to front of card, leaving top open for the photo insert.

9. To make the photo collage, use photo-editing software. Reduce all of the pictures and line them up. Use the feature that allows you to add lines and make a grid so that everything appears to be perfectly lined up.

10. Add text and/or turn photo to black and white or sepia using your photo-editing software, if desired.

11. Print collage photo and trim so that it fits inside pocket easily.

12. Tuck photo collage inside of pocket on the front of the card.
