Traditional-Meets-Modern Bedroom

A conservative couple opts for a bedroom with some rock-star flair.

Telea and Paul Stafford are conservative but they want their bedroom to have a little more life so they turn to student designer Chelsey Cutright, who has rock-star flair. She plans to update the Stafford's bedroom with a traditional-meets-modern look including green faux leather walls, art frames surrounding the windows, a new shelving unit, chandelier, nightstands and a bench.

A design plan that pairs Old World with contemporary livens the space up. Moving the four-poster bed between the windows makes it even more of a focal point and the rich green walls highlight the dark wood tones of all the pieces.

The inherited traditional furniture was nice, but not all of it works for the couple or together and the ochre wall color doesn't lend the romantic feeling the homeowners would like.

A new built-in entertainment center neatly houses the TV and favorite collectibles, making better use of the large wall space on this side of the room.
