Convert an Outdated, Cluttered Family Room for Less Than $40

Homeowners Scott and Beth Kenison's young boys have taken over their cluttered, outdated family room. Designer Karen McAloon helps them transform the space into a cozy, country living room everyone can enjoy.

Since the Kenisons like country style and have made a good start in that direction, the room is pulled together with fabulous pieces they had stored in their garage, including items from a great-uncle's woodshop.

Before

This family room had been taken over by the homeowners' young boys and their parents were ready to take it back!

Before

The view to the dining room was boring, lacking color, interest and style. The carpeting had also seen better days.

After

Moving the furniture into new locations provides separation between the family and dining rooms. Uncovered hardwood floors add to the country feel.

This project was completed for under $40.
