Quick Fix: Cabinets

Michael Kahn of Sydney Harbour Paint Company shares three ideas for sprucing up cabinet fronts.

  • Glaze

Give your cabinets a glazed finish for instant color. Mix the glaze with paint and brush over the cabinet front. Dab a piece of cheesecloth over the surface for a stippled effect or lightly brush through it to create subtle lines.

  • Beeswax

Add shine and lustre to worn surfaces with beeswax. It will deepen the color and make the surface more resistant to water.

  • Liquid iron and instant rust

Create a rustic Old World finish with liquid iron and instant rust. Brush the liquid iron onto the surface then go over with the rust to create a timeworn look on new cabinets.
