InspirationHost Brooke Channon and the design team work together to re-create the look of a lackluster living room into a sophisticated and elegant lounge designed by Patti McAdaragh. McAdaragh used a soothing lighting scheme and designer furniture pieces that included a pair sycamore veneer armchairs which anchor the room.
BeforeTransforming the Makeover Room:
The design team transformed a dull living room into a high-end California style living room with the following steps.
- The transformation began by adding a soft white tone to the walls. The soft white tone was the perfect back drop for the bright white chair rail and picture frame molding installed by the design team. Matchstick blinds replaced the designer Roman shade in the inspiration room to give the room a California feel. A beige microsuede sofa and red pillows with Chinese letters replicated the designer linen pile sofa and hand painted pillows. An "incandescence" oil reproduction was the perfect stand in for the Barry Masteller original painting found in the the inspiration room.
- The inspiration wenge base lamp and silk shade was replaced with a rectangular wooden lamp. The design team offers a solution to out-of-bloom plants by adding artificial birds of paradise to simple greenery.
