A striking 1928 Spanish-Mediterranean style home gets remodeled in preparation for sale. Some of the main projects include paint and concrete finishes, new landscaping, and detail work which accentuates the home’s decorative features.

Homeowner Mike Folk and his fiancee Jill Suder are busy planning their wedding as they coordinate the remodel of Mike's Mediterranean-style bachelor pad, in preparation for selling it. Designer Pat Wagner gets on board to help open up the house, while giving it a welcome feel that'll appeal to potential buyers. Her plan is to improve the house with details that maintain the integrity of the Mediterranean style.

Here's how they accomplish it:

  • remove red paint on walkway, and refinish the concrete with an aged look
  • remove the awnings to bring more light into the home
  • add a new window at the base of the house, to get more light coming into the house
  • accentuate existing plaster reliefs on the house with faux finishing techniques
  • refinish the front door and stain a rich brown for Old World charm
  • stair risers get hand painted spiral design
  • install new window boxes with asparagus ferns for a dramatic, draping look
  • take out part of the lavender hedge at the front entry and replace with pots of rosemary
  • flower beds with petunias and million bells
  • the tea tree gets pruned to open up the house
  • new accents: lights and metal house numbers
