Wonderfully Weathered

Florals abound in this charming cottage-styled living room.

Often times you can find artist Christie Repasy outside enjoying the Southern California breezes. Just a stone's throw away from the Pacific Ocean on a white picket-fenced porch, Repasy has brush in hand adding strokes of color and creating one-of-a-kind romantic paintings reminiscent of Victorian times. It's her love of flowers — especially roses — that provide constant inspiration. While Christie's timeless flower paintings hang in homes around the country, when it comes to her own living room, this artist turned to a homier inspiration — the floral designs on vintage dishes she found at a flea market. The floral accents have seemingly blossomed throughout her open living area for a charming cottage design.

Repasy divided up the large living area into two spaces — an informal to accommodate her children and another more formal area for adult guests.

This table was originally dark wood with a black wrought-iron base. Repasy made it her own with white paint, tin ceiling tiles and a glass top.
