Creativity expert Courtney Watkins points out a new display technique for children's artwork.
Mixed Media Collage
Have the kids create artwork with things like tissue paper, construction paper and chalk.
Layer items on paper with a variety of textures such as bubble wrap, ribbon, flowers, jewelry and corrugated paper.
Use wax crayons to color a picture on construction paper. Paint the paper with water colors, and the wax will resist the paint (as opposed to changing colors).
Labels for the pictures and refreshments can make a home art gallery opening feel more important. Invite friends and neighbors over to the review the results of the day's creativity.
