Inspiration Room: $62,000Host Brooke Channon visits the elegant living room created by designer Jim Butler. Anchored by a neutral taupe color scheme, the room is enlivened with red and black accents in the accessories and furniture.
Transforming the Makeover RoomDesigner Robert Noble guided the makeover of a living room with an eclectic mix of furnishings.
Adding a Neutral Taupe Color SchemeRobert hung a tailored panel of taupe dupioni silk at the window. He then covered two seven-foot plywood screens with taupe suit lining that coordinates with the window treatment and placed them on either side of the window. The screens do double duty, separating the living room from the dining room and hiding the giant stereo speakers. He replaced a boldly colored, busy area rug with a taupe-colored area rug.
Adding Accents and ShapesRobert used a handsome, cream-colored suede sofa with a curved silhouette in front of the window and added two dupioni pillows in taupe, and a red print accent pillow.
Layering the LookRobert covered a plywood round table with layered taupe cloths and finished it with a candlestick lamp and crystal accessories.
Accentuate with AccessoriesOn the right side of the couch, Robert used a dark wood Georgian table and finished it with a crystal lamp, daisy-filled vase, decorative silver finial, two glasses filled with matches and a hammered-silver box
Add Flair with FabricRobert covered a $160 chair with red and gold damask fabric and covered a thrift store slipper chair with the same red damask.
