Danielle Colding's Design Portfolio

Danielle draws inspiration from world travels and her passion for art and fashion to create polished, eclectic spaces.

  • Multi-Use Living Room

This built-in library alcove can be partitioned off as a guest room using tinted sliding glass doors. The cabinets are painted in a deep, saturated teal to complement the overall palette in the living room.

  • Modern and Minimal

Sleek white walls and neutral furnishings let this apartment's amazing architectural details take center stage.

  • Modern Entryway

A clear console table perched in the entryway of this Manhattan apartment provides a place for mail and accessories without taking up much visual space.

  • Complete Kitchen Makeover

Danielle totally gutted the kitchen in this Brooklyn apartment to create a clean and classic look that still evoked the homeowners' personality. The slate gray floor, gray countertop and stainless steel appliances ground the space and the pale blue wall color gives it an ethereal feel.

  • Custom Design

This Moroccan-inspired master bedroom features a custom-designed, upholstered bed with nailhead trim. Danielle revitalized an armoire by adding black lacquer and funky, one-of-a-kind hardware.

  • Personal Accessories

The nightstands are accessorized with items collected from travels and big box stores in New York.

  • Old Piece, New Look

Danielle reimagined the clients' existing settee with vibrant plum velvet upholstery and a custom-made ikat lumbar pillow.

  • Dramatic Vignette

A niche in a long hallway is the perfect place for some drama and interest. Black-on-black patterned wallpaper is the perfect background for the dramatic gold art and statue.

  • A Place to Lounge

The newly renovated main living area features modern furnishings with clean lines. Iconic design pieces are paired with collected items. Pops of color and textured accessories create drama and interest.

  • Design Inspiration

The ochre yellow metal base of this \"guitar pick\" dining table was the first purchase Danielle made for this Harlem apartment. Along with a sculptural, magenta chair, it helped inspire her vision for the space.

  • Modern Yellow Kitchen

The dining table’s base inspired this bright yellow glass backsplash. Painted glass adds an intense pop of color to a neutral space, and is also easy to keep clean.

  • Mirror Image

This bathroom is a nod to ladylike glamour, featuring amethyst mosaic floor tiles, a mirrored cabinet and metallic textured wallpaper.

  • A Handmade Focal Point

An enormous oil painting is the centerpiece of this minimal sitting area featuring black wood and leather furniture.

  • Stylish Office Space

This sleek and modern office perfectly suits the client, a high-powered executive. Minimal furnishings allow the room's best feature — the view — to take center stage.

  • Bright and Bold

Black wood and leather, deep green and ochre yellow make up this office space color palette. Vibrant art and warm accessories bring the space to life.

  • Traditional Meets Modern

This kitchen bridges the gap between traditional and modern design. Sleek, angular cabinets and a glass backsplash are softened by a substantial wooden table and traditional chairs.

  • Dark and Moody

This dramatic black and white bedroom features black, molded plastic lamps, clean-lined convertible furniture and graphic accessories. Danielle used white molding strips to add contrast and architectural interest to the black walls. Photo by James Ransom
