Large Kitchen Gets Functional

Amanda Swaringen turned a ho-hum kitchen into a showstopper the whole family loves (and really uses).

  • Now That's Useable Space

Swaringen took the clients' love of streamlined traditional and translated it into white subway tile, a laminate-topped worktable (can you believe it's not marble?) and tons of hands-on counter space.

  • Not Bad, But ...

The original kitchen was pretty enough, but with the small island and limited countertop space, it needed a functional upgrade.

  • Dining Nook

The upholstered bench and modern Chippendale chairs are a fresh take on seating.

  • Brighten Up the Lighting

These pendant lights, with their drum-style shades and wrought-iron bodies, give traditional a new twist.
