5 Must-See Bathroom Transformations

Browse photos to see how design-savvy HGTV fans turned ordinary bathrooms into extraordinary spa-like retreats.

  • Small blue and Gray Bathroom

    Before: Builder-Basic Bath

This basic bath is neat, organized and perfectly functional but the run-of-the mill fixtures and finishes don't fit the homeowners' modern, sophisticated aesthetic. Photo by Rate My Space user InspiredGuys.

  • Tiled Bathroom

    After: Chic, Contemporary Update

RMSers InspiredGuys completely gutted the space to better suit their streamlined style. In their own words, \"We wanted a contemporary spa feel with modern amenities. Although our space is small, we took advantage of the high 14-foot ceiling by running the tile all the way up. The vanity, sink and waterfall faucet were purchased online and the oversize mirror was cut locally to fit the exact space. We are thrilled at the transformation and can't believe how much bigger our 5' x 8' space now appears!\"

  • Bathroom Seems Barren Before Makeover

    Before: Missed Opportunity

A single sink in Rate My Space user nesting's bathroom creates a lot of unnecessary countertop space. Colorful accessories help to fill the void but dual sinks would be a useful upgrade.

  • Dueling Vanities Highlight Bathroom Makeover

    After: Multi-Person Space

Now that's more like it. The bathroom was demoed for a traditional-style makeover. Dual sinks help with the morning rush while an earthy, slate-blue paint color is a refreshing update. Design by RMSer nesting.

  • Master Bath in Need of Overhaul

    Before: Cramped and Not Clean

This shower isn't a very appealing place to get clean: The moldy walls and dirty glass enclosure are the opposite of hygienic. Rate My Space user cprestonoc has a lot of work to do to make this bathroom usable.

  • After: Sparkling Spa

Beautiful and clean, this bathroom is dramatically transformed from the room's previously shabby state. A spacious multi-person shower with elegant marble tile, frameless glass doors and a ceiling-mounted rainfall showerhead turn bath time into relaxing \"me\" time. Design by Rate My Space user cprestonoc.

  • Master Bath Without Style

Before: Spacious But Short on Style

Rate My Space users 9605112 are lucky to have such a large master bath, but the stock vanity and countertop are nothing special.

  • Mosaic and Espresso Bathroom

    After: Handy Hubby

A can-do husband is to thank for this contemporary remodel. RMSer 9605112 acted as the designer while her husband skillfully made her ideas reality. With heated floors, mosaic tile, wall-mounted faucets and a strategically placed flat-screen TV, this bath is far from bland.

  • Before the Renovation Begins

    Before: Bare-Bones Bathroom

No toilet, no sink, not a single luxury: There really isn't much to salvage in this century-old bathroom. Rate My Space user oldhousemama has a real job ahead of her to turn this neglected space into a functioning bathroom.

  • Red and White Bathroom

    After: Polished to Perfection

RMSer user oldhousemama and her husband spent five years lovingly restoring their Queen Anne-style Victorian home. The bathroom in particular needed a considerable amount of attention. To keep the home true to its style, the original 100-year-old tub was expertly restored and period-correct details like honeycomb floor tile and wide, Victorian-era door casings were added.
