See how a calm, subtle bathroom design turned into an exciting, sexy sanctuary.
Sometimes even the best-laid bathroom plans can go astray. This bathroom design was supposed to be a calm, subtle design, but along the way it turned into an exciting, bold and sexy master bath.
Designer Heather Carter ditched the boring white walls and the old gold fixtures and revamped the space with lots of warm color, modern accents and stylish metals.

The romantic fireplace and bathtub are accentuated with mosaic glass tile. The reflective tile really makes the room sparkle when the fireplace is in use. A hot trend in bathroom design today, glass tile is now available mounted on large sheets of fiberglass, making for easy installation.
Two copper vessel sinks sit atop the beautiful granite countertop. Wrought-iron faucets are combined with the copper to create interest and add a dramatic effect.
The three separate mirrors above the L-shaped vanity provide a lot of spark to the room. Matching rectangular mirrors over the his-and-her vanity sinks add to that spark. A round mirror gets placed over the makeup area in the middle of the vanity, and to light the space, Old World style, wrought-iron sconces flank the circular mirror.
Following another hot design trend, a chandelier normally meant for a dining room is hung in the center of the bathroom for even more drama.
An accent table is brought into the center of the room underneath the beautiful chandelier to add a comfortable, welcoming feel. Another hot design trend is to incorporate furniture pieces into the bathroom. To spruce up the shower, the old gold-finish shower door gets replaced with a new brushed-nickel one. A new wrought-iron, sunflower showerhead combines function and style.
