Design for Your Family From Design Star 3 Challenge

In Design Star 3, Jennifer, Matt and Trish head to their hometowns for a very personal challenge: designing spaces for their families.

  • The dining room features incredible hand-drawn leaves in a very sophisticated paler version of the main wall color, while the pattern shows up in the living room in the form of brown and green drapery.
  • Jennifer showcases her ability to punch up the living room with small doses of concentrated color without going over the top.
  • By creating a television/media wall in this room, the large piece of equipment in this space can still be accessed when needed without having to be consistently viewed.
  • In this room some issues of appropriate scale and balance call some of Matt's furniture choices into question. Four identical dark-brown leather chairs weigh down the space considerably, creating two parallel walls of darkness.
  • By choosing to invest much of her time and resources into a warm, brown wood-laminate floor, Trish provides a great foundation for new upholstery, rugs and accent tables.
  • With the world of traditional design constantly expanding, Trish needed to demonstrate a little more of her unique, traditionalist vision in this transformation. © 2010 Scripps Networks, L.L.C. All rights reserved
