George Gray

Learn more about George Gray, host of HGTV's Summer Showdown and What's With That House?.

George Gray has always relaxed by tinkering with everyday things. The best way to understand something, he says, is to "take it apart and put it back together. If it still works and you haven't wound up in the hospital, chances are that you've done something right." This simple approach, which he uses when restoring his collection of vintage cars and motorcycles, also helps him prepare for TV and film roles.

Currently, George is in production on two new TV projects. He created and is to produce A&E's new sketch-comedy featuring Cheers funny man George Wendt, in A Guy Walks Into a Bar. George also appeared as host in HGTV's show What's With That House? He and his crew canvassed the United States, bringing architecturally unique houses and their unique stories to cable's primetime market.

Before being cast on The Weakest Link, he hosted TLC's Junkyard Wars, for which he shared a 2001 Primetime Emmy Award nomination (Outstanding Nonfiction Program). His additional TV credits include host of Game Show Network's Extreme Gong and roles in For Your Love and Party of Five.

George is active in philanthropic causes and was honored to serve as co-host of the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) telethon in 2003. He regularly lends his time to other events to support muscular dystrophy research, including the annual Love Ride fundraiser with numerous celebrities and thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts, and emceeing the annual MDA Night Under the Stars black-tie gala in Beverly Hills, Calif.

George was born in St. Louis, Mo,, raised in Tucson, Ariz., and currently divides his time between Los Angeles and the historic mining town of Bisbee, Ariz. He is a graduate of the University of Arizona. His birthday is March 11 and he has a 17-pound cat named Stinky.
