After: Geometric DesignLandscape designer John Black uses a lot of geometric shapes throughout the yard, starting with the patio, which is made of concrete pavers and pea gravel. An easy-to-install fire pit, made out of concrete block, is a great entertaining spot and surrounded by a redwood bench, which helps divide the backyard.
Before: Unused PatioThe couple loves their 1949 ranch-style home, but the backyard doesn't meet their standards. They need a more usable and interesting space, where they can entertain friends, barbeque and play with their new puggle.
After: Fun Outdoor RoomTwo trellises add much-needed greenery against the garage wall, and planting beds are placed throughout the garden in a grid pattern. A custom arbor in the back corner of the lawn is the perfect space for a new hammock.
