Liven up a black dress with embroidery.
Fashion expert Kym Douglas presents five fast ways to dress up, accessorize and individualize a single black dress.
  1. If you have a simple, sleeveless black dress, add a crocheted twin set to give a different look for the sleeve.

  2. Add appliques, rhinestones or embroidery to a dress that has been worn numerous times.

  3. Add a silk pajama top to a black dress and roll the sleeves up. Use wristbands to keep the sleeves in place.

  4. Find an inexpensive fabric remnant at the fabric store and use the remnant as a wrap.

  5. Don't forget about accessories such as a small purse, a distinctive hair band, a rhinestone clip, a pearl necklace or a crystal choker.
