Author Mary Hunt has ways to use common household products for personal care. She shows alternatives for deodorant, foot spray, facial mask and hair conditioner, among others.
- Rubbing alcohol kills bacteria, so spray bottle and spritz smelly sneakers and feet to eliminate odor. It also works as a backup deodorant, just spritz it or use a cotton ball to apply it to your underarm.
- Mix lemon juice and white granulated sugar until the consistency becomes thick and apply to your face as exfoliate.
- Rest elbows in the rinds of half a lemon to moisturize and remove dead skin.
- Mix olive oil and baking soda, apply to face as a moisturizing mask, leave on for five to 10 minutes and rinse with cool water.
- To condition your hair, work real mayonnaise through dry hair. Cover head and hair with a plastic bag, pull it tight and secure. Heat the bag with a blow dryer, and then leave on for 30 minutes to an hour and rinse.
