After
Robert Brockman, landscape architect, replaces the cracked slab driveway with new concrete bordered in flagstone. He removes the colonial-style shutters on the windows and replaces them with clean-lined, contemporary trim work.

He also adds white window boxes that are filled with a mix of pink, purple and white annuals that include petunias, dusty millers and verbenas.

Brockman removes the funky biker mailbox and replaces it with a majestic pillar faced in flagstone. Next, he builds a curved retaining wall, also faced in flagstone, along an awkward slope. This creates a two-tiered terrace for planting.

The landscape is filled with drought-resistant plants, many of them lavenders, which complement the yellow color of the house.
