Cynthia Muchnick discusses how to plan a low-cost honeymoon. Bargains are there, she says, but you must search them out and shop around.
What are the least expensive times to travel?
Europe--off-season is from November through March
Caribbean--the off-season is mid-April through mid-December
Mexico--the off-season is mid-May through June
Tips on how to save money on your honeymoon:
- When booking a hotel or car, ask if a discount is offered. That kind of information is not typically volunteered.
- Always look for discounts such as credit card savings, entertainment and Diners Club savings, AAA, military, Rotary Club, or a honeymoon package.
- Airfare for off-peak days (Sunday to Wednesday) will be substantially cheaper.
Consider all-inclusive packages such as the following for low-stress honeymoons.
Resorts--Seek places where everything is included (sometimes even the airfare).
Cruises--Find out the off-peak season for incredible discounts and upgrades.
Take it a step further and plan a "destination wedding." Hotels will bend over backward for you and will take care of every detail for the wedding.
