Fifth-Wheel RVs
Fifth-wheel RVs (example at right), otherwise known as fivers, are typically 30 to 40 feet long and are quickly growing in popularity. They are designed to be towed by a truck using a special hitch (figure A) in the truck bed. They always have a set of stairs and can easily be equipped with all the comforts of home. They especially appeal to full-timers.
The Alfa Leisure See Ya is the only fifth wheel in the industry with a front awning (figure B). It has a gourmet island kitchen with a trap door for trash and lots of counter space. Other amenities include a spacious sitting area (figure C), king-size bed and skylight in the shower.
Another fifth-wheel example is the slightly higher-end Select, by Travel Supreme (figure D). Ideal for a full-timer, this model comes with a state-of-the-art kitchen, complete with hanging cupboards, full range, overhead microwave convection oven, countertop extender and a full-size stainless-steel refrigerator (figure E). The living area provides a separate entertainment slide for the fireplace, swiveling TV, computer desk and a separate washer and dryer.
